Granada, Nicaragua
Welcomed Lucy to the party. Not the smoothest of starts. I tried to get last bus to airport to meet her in evening, but all the locals made me get off the bus 5 mins into 1 hour journey because apparently where it was going to drop me off in Managua wasn’t safe..
Worrying about being late, I grab first taxi I can find for cheap. Only once in do I notice the massive crack on windscreen. My seatbelt doesn’t work. Drive then pulls over on motorway & opens up bonnet because of an odd sound being made. His lights also then stop working. I considered sacking off Lucy at this point.
The fun continues, as we are then stopped by the police on some quiet road in the middle of nowhere. I accepted this could be where it all ends. Turns out they’re unhappy that I’m not wearing a seatbelt. As policía begins filling out some form, drive hands over his licenses with cash snuck between. Bribe worked, off we go.
Eventually somehow make it to airport alive. In waiting area with hundreds of others. In classic Lucy style, I end up being the literal LAST person in waiting area, as she manages to do pretty much anything other than find the exit. Didn’t even need to rush..
Treehouse rave not my usual scene. But enjoyed the views. A single lyric wouldn’t have gone amiss.
